Landscape Scene

Morning I took these picture in my backyard at around 9 am. I used my iPhone which has a wide angle (28mm equivalent), and Aperture of f1.8. In the top photo I zoomed in to get a close up. Then in the second picture, I used the mono setting just to experiment with that setting. In the last one I just used the regular setting that the iPhone comes with. I really liked the second and third one in the differences using the mono setting, it made the picture have a different dimension.

Afternoon– These 3 photos were taken in my back yard at the same place but in the afternoon around 1:30 pm. For these 3 pictures I used a digital camera. The first picture had an ISO 800 with 18mm and f11. For the second one it was ISO 800 with f9.0 and 40mm. The third picture had an ISO 800 with f11 and 18mm. I found it interesting how different that the different focus can make the pictures and also how different a digital camera to an iPhone pictures can be.

Evening – These pictures were taken at night around 7:30 pm in my backyard. The first picture was taken with my digital camera and I tried to play with the ISO which was 100 with f5.6 and 70mm. The second one I played a little bit with the ISO which is a 200. The last picture I edited in a program called VSCO which was kind of cool in using different filters. Of all the pictures I liked the night time one the best because the picture came out the best because of the way it was edited and using the different ISO made the picture more defined and you get a different perception.

Still Life

The items that I chose for my still life were of varying sizes, color and saturation. Depending on the position of my camera and the light led to a different perspective of each item. In the side shot the items behind the red vase were not as in focused as the ones in the front view. In the front view the saturation was high, The colors were vibrant. The first picture also was focused on the lighting from overhead.

Photographer presentation

For my photographer I chose Arnold Newman. Arnold Newman was a photographer born in 1918 on March 3rd and passed away on june 6th, 2006. He was known for his carefully composed abstract still life photos. He was also noted for his environmental portraits of artists and politicians. He graduated from the University of Miami and of his awards was the International Center of Photography School.
Newman opened up a studio for himself called Arnold Newman studios and worked as a freelance photographer.
His best known pictures were in black and white. He also moved to Florida to work at a studio in 1938.
Newman was the one that articulated and employed the genre of environmental portraiture.
Newman was born in Manhattan, but grew up in Atlantic City, New Jersey and later moved to Miami beach, Florida.
He used a large format camera and tripod, he worked to record every detail of a scene.
This photo was one of the most famous photos taken by him.
This was another one of his famous pictures he took that was a still life portrait.
Newman found his vision in the empathy he felt for artists and their work.

Newman was a very creative photographer and will forever be well known.
